Most cartoon logo designers charge more for cartoon logos than what you would expect to pay for a normal, business logo.

The fact is that cartoon logos are far more specialized and, if done right, far more time-consuming. Keep in mind that not only the cartoon logo has to be created, but the character/mascot has to be created and refined until the client is satisfied with the look.

You could probably find cheaper cartoon logos elsewhere, but make sure that you (1) receive unlimited alterations and (2) receive the exclusive copyright to the final cartoon. Without unlimited alterations you have no assurance that the final cartoon will really be what you want. It might be a take-it-or-leave-it deal. Without exclusive copyright the cartoon logo design has the right to resell your cartoon that you paid for.
